How much nicotine booster quantity do I need to put in my shortfill?

Scenario

I recently purchased a shortfill of 60ml which contains a premixed base and aroma of 40ml. I want to know how much 20mg/ml nicotine booster I need to add to obtain a nicotine concentration of 5mg/ml.

Explanation

In order to determine the quantity of nicotine booster needed, we will use the following information:

  • The bottle already contains 40ml of premixed base and aroma
  • We have 20mg/ml nicotine booster

Firstly, we'll define a variable called nicotineBoosterQuantity, which represents the amount of nicotine booster in ml that we need to add to the bottle.

Since 1ml of nicotine booster contains 20mg of nicotine, we can calculate the total nicotine content in the bottle by multiplying nicotineBoosterQuantity by 20 mg/ml.

Next, we divide the total nicotine content by the total quantity in ml of the bottle (base + aroma + nicotine booster) to obtain the nicotine concentration in ml, which should be 5mg/ml.

5mg/ml = (nicotineBoosterQuantity . 20mg/ml) / (40ml + nicotineBoosterQuantity)

Using the equation, we can isolate nicotineBoosterQuantity to determine the quantity of nicotine booster required.

5mg/ml . (40ml + nicotineBoosterQuantity) = 20mg/ml . nicotineBoosterQuantity 200mg + 5mg/ml . nicotineBoosterQuantity = 20mg/ml . nicotineBoosterQuantity 200mg = 20mg/ml . nicotineBoosterQuantity - 5mg/ml . nicotineBoosterQuantity 20mg = (20mg/ml - 5mg/ml) . nicotineBoosterQuantity nicotineBoosterQuantity = 200mg / 15mg/ml nicotineBoosterQuantity = 13.33ml

In this case, we need to add approximately 13.33 ml of nicotine booster to the bottle.

(13.33ml . 20mg/ml) / 53.33ml = +- 5mg/ml of nicotine concentration
